Cindy Hahn, Cutler RE- Father Raymond Penno

Cincinnati Ohio - The family of Raymond John Penno regret to inform all who knew and loved him that he passed on October 3, 2018

Ray was 92 years young. Born on September 20, 1926 in Cincinnati, Ohio. The son of Raymond Bernard and Joy Burns Penno, Ray graduated from Western Hills High School in 1946 where he excelled at both basketball and baseball. Ray attended the University of Cincinnati where education and basketball season was interrupted by World War II.

After serving two years in the Philippines earning the rank of first sergeant, Ray returned to UC to play football and basketball while earning two master's degrees in education and business.

Rays professional career began in his early teens when he sold Menswear for his father's store, Penno Tie King, located in the Lobby of the Gibson Hotel in Downtown Cincinnati.

Ray worked for some of the well-known department stores - The JC Penny Company, Pogue's and Shillito's where he rose to the position of Vice President of Federated Department Stores.

Ray is the past president of the Northwest Exchange Club, The Anderson Township Chamber of Commerce and the University of Cincinnati "C" Club.

Ray started a second career in real estate 42 years ago where he worked for some of the most well-respected real estate companies in the area including Parchman and Oyler, Coldwell Banker and Cutler Real estate. Once entering real estate, he is credited with the development of many subdivisions.  The most prominent one being Pebble Creek Golf Course where Ray not only sold every new home in the subdivision but also had the vison to actually draw the first layout for the golf course. He renewed his license in the Cincinnati Board of Realtors just 2 weeks prior to his 92nd birthday.

Ray met Marceline Cox 72 years ago and pursued her with a passion until she relented and accepted his college pin.  He was married to Marceline Cox Penno for 69 years.

Ray was preceded by his parents and his sisters, Jacqueline Penno Chamberlain and Sally Penno.

He is survived by his sister Virginia Loesch, her husband Donald and their son Todd, his wife Kristi and their children Christopher and Olivia.  Rays children and their families.  Ray Penno   Kathy Penno Kramer and Shane Marsan, his wife Midori and daughter Mia also, son Mitchell Kramer.  Cindy Penno Hahn, her husband Daniel and son Daniel and daughter Carly.  Lori Penno Kusters, her husband William and son Michael Kusters. Also, their sons Wilhelmus and Conner and their daughter Emily Kusters Burpo, her husband Shayne and their children Korbin, Greyson, Rorie


Per Ray's request, there will be no services.  Memorials can be donated to Gamers Outreach to provide care for critically ill children at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital at the following link:
