REALTORS® FOR FAIR HOUSING
The Northern Kentucky Association of Realtors had the pleasure of presenting Housing Opportunities of Northern Kentucky (HONK) with a $1,605 check from a Fair Housing Class sponsored by the NKAR Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee courtesy of the National Association of REALTORS® Fair Housing Grant. During the class, REALTORS® learned about the history of Fair Housing and the importance of maintaining Fair Housing practices within their communities.
The Northern Kentucky Association of REALTORS®(NKAR) Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) committee is charged with promoting NKAR as an organization that celebrates and embraces the uniqueness of each of its members and their clients.
To commemorate National Fair Housing Month the NKAR DEI committee will be sponsoring two Fair Housing-related CE classes in April made possible by the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Fair Housing Grant. The purpose of the grant is to help position REALTORS® as leaders on Fair Housing issues and to provide education opportunities for members to learn about Fair Housing and their responsibilities under the law.
REALTORS® will learn the history behind Fair Housing laws; discuss and analyze discriminatory practices: know how to advertise in a non-discriminatory fashion; and understand the importance of documentation of their actions. Members will learn about the Landlord-Tenant Act including the provisions relating to eviction, security deposits and more.
A $15.00 per class registration fee that will be donated to Housing Opportunities of Northern Kentucky, (H.O.N.K) a local non-profit that has helped families throughout Northern Kentucky for the past 25 years to share in the American dream of homeownership through education and support.
During the day, REALTORS® will have the opportunity to pledge the following National Association of REALTORS® Fair Housing Declaration…
- - Provide equal professional service without regard to the race, color, religion, gender (sex), disability (handicap), familial status, national origin, sexual orientation or gender identity of any prospective client, customer, or of the residents of any community.

Let's Make Unfair housing history
Every April, REALTORS® commemorate the passage of the Fair Housing Act of 1968 with events and education that shine a light on housing discrimination and segregation. Fair Housing Month signifies a recommitment to expanding equal access to housing.
Discrimination in the real estate industry is real and ongoing. You, as community leaders, have the opportunity to be a part of the transformative solution, providing equal service to all.
April is Fair Housing Month and a great time to affirm you’re helping to build thriving, inclusive communities. Fair housing impacts all NAR members, all markets, and all neighborhoods.
