REALTORS® are good neighbors
Members of the Northern Kentucky Association of REALTORS® (NKAR) came together to volunteer with a local non-profit, Housing Opportunities of Northern Kentucky (HONK). For 3 hours on June 9th, 2022, 20+ volunteers lent a helping hand on two different projects, one in Elsmere, KY and the other in Covington, KY. The Elsmere crew worked strictly on demolition, the house needed to be ripped down to the studs and we did just that. Working our way through almost every room tearing out drywall, gutting bathrooms and removing leftover junk from the house. A few people worked outside tearing up shrubs and overgrown weeds/plants. Giving this home a clean slate for HONK is HUGE, because now they can re-configure the layout as needed. The Covington crew worked on a variety of things, starting in the backyard hauling junk from a mountain of debris and navigating to the interior of the home to clean and paint. Overall, both groups filled a dumpster to the brim with debris from cleanup. The work that was completed is greatly appreciated by HONK as they continue to carry out their focus of changing lives and strengthening neighborhoods since 1991.
As an Association we have been working with HONK for over a decade, focusing on providing the dream of home ownership to local families in need. Over the past 30 years, Housing Opportunities of Northern Kentucky has witnessed firsthand the lasting impact that homeownership can make on individuals, families, and communities, proving that making affordable housing available does more than just put a roof over someone’s head, it changes lives and strengthens the neighborhoods we live in. At NKAR we strive to be a part of this movement. Helping families throughout Northern Kentucky to share in the American dream of home ownership is at the forefront of HONK's goals. Lending our helping hands as members of NKAR makes all the difference in the homes that HONK rehabs and provides on a lease-to-own program.
